TBI News – On Thursday (22/07/21) English Education Department IAIN Kudus held Online Workshop by the theme “Media Pembelajaran Android”  through Zoom Meeting. This workshop focused on android-based learning media with Salakhuddin Ghani, a creative postgraduate student as the speaker. The audiences came from English Education Department students and public.

The workshop started with opening speech by the chief of English Education Department IAIN Kudus, Mrs. Alfu Nikmah, M.Pd. She stated that the aims of carrying out learning media workshop are to give inspiration and motivation about creative teaching. Mrs. Alfu also wished that after workshop, the audiences will be able to make their own android-based learning media.

After Mrs. Alfu’s opening speech, the speaker started to explain about the android-based learning media. Salakhuddin started his explanation by giving the audiences about the obstacles in online learing during pandemic, he said one of the obstacles is learning media that used by the teacher. In online learning, teachers are demanded to be more creative in order to keep students’ enthusiasm. For the solution, teachers could make an android based application to help them deliver the materials to their students. As we know, nowadays most of students are using Android smartphone to attend online classes, that is why the speaker chose Android Based Application as the learning media.

The speaker uses Smart Apps Creator to make educational application. According to the speaker, he uses Smart Apps Creator because it is easy to use without needing programming knowledge. The educational applications that could be made using Smart Apps Creator are game, presentation, mind map, evaluation, and flash card. The strengths from Smart Apps Creator are easy to use, the result is interactive, the size is small, simple display, and support for Android.

After explained the materials, demonstrated how to make an educational application using Smart Apps Creator, and answered the audiences’ question, Salakhuddin closed the session with suggestion for the audiences to make educational application as the learning media.
